Can medicines or home remedies dissolve gallstones?

Unfortunately, no reliable medicine or home remedy removes gallstones. Dissolving tablets work rarely and slowly, and stones usually return when they're stopped. Once stones cause symptoms, removing the gallbladder is the only lasting cure.

Stones were found on a scan but I have no pain. Do I need surgery?

Usually not. Silent gallstones found by chance can often be left alone. Surgery may be advised if you have diabetes, very large stones, a polyp, or live far from medical care.
